L. Joyce Mundy was born in the hills of Martin County, Indiana, in 1937 and was raised on a farm in the White River bottom lands near Clark's Ferry. Though from humble beginnings she attended Indiana University and worked as a obstetrical nurse for 62 years at Dunn Hospital and then the Bedford Medical Center. During her lifetime she was a whistler, a painter, a fan of music, and importantly, a storyteller. Her fondness for narratives was always evident and appreciated by her family and friends. Thankfully, she shared her passion with local readers in SOUVENIRS, a weekly column of reminiscence and recipes she wrote from 2001 until her final days. The stories she collected in these books are filled with recollections of the past; of good times and hard times.
